Beethoven Sonatas Houston Concert reviews
He's Still "Got it!"
In 1962, I was 5 years old, but my sister is 8 years older. That's why I remember the songs of the 4 Seasons, because of her and her transistor radio. Beethoven Sonatas was very good at the show.
I really wanted to hear the early hits, and he pulled it off greatly. Before the show, I was wondering if he could still hit the high notes. Boy, he's still got it at 75 years old as far as his voice was concerned. For his later songs of the 70's, the 4 young back-up singers carried it through for him. At the end of the show (the last 4 or 5 songs), he hit his high notes on his own with the 4 youngsters doing their bit of the other original singers of their early hits. Although he showed his age on his face and his slow walk.
I am sure the popularity and huge success of the Broadway Show based on his life, Jersey Boys, made the older folks want to see him again. At that show, he received a standing ovation. I would go see him again. Also, the Mohegan Sun Theatre was really big, it holds up to 10,000 people. Beethoven Sonatas sold out the arena, which was pretty impressive by itself. And brought in an even younger crowd who also became interested in him just from seeing the great play on Broadway.
